Reminder

As its almost the beginning of the Easter holidays it might be worth reminding everyone to make sure that they clean their instruments.

For Clarinets and Saxophones - a wipe over inside and out with a mild disinfectant wipe (e.g. Milton) for parts that come into contact with the mouth is recommended but remember not to immerse mouthpieces in water.  The cork will peel off of the joints if you do this!

You could give the reeds a wipe over too and remember to put them back in their protective cases rather than leave them on the mouthpiece.

Flutes can just have a wipe over inside and out with a very mild disinfectant so as not to tarnish the silver.

Don't forget to practise over the holidays though.

Spring Exam Entries

Good luck to all students taking exams this session.

Remember, it's your time to show how good you are and have your own recital.  It's not about being perfect, live music isn't perfect. It's about putting on a good show, doing your best, not letting on when it doesn't go quite right and enjoying how being a musician makes you feel.

Playing live makes the worlds best performers nervous so you are not alone.

Try to get a good nights sleep, remember to make sure you have eaten before the exam and take some water with you.  Play a couple of scales in the warm up room and have a quick run through of your pieces before you go in.  Smile and say hello to your examiner when you go in and remember to tune up while you wait to start.

Allow up to 5 weeks for the results to come through and once they have arrived we will let you know.

Good luck everyone.

Hythe Bay Primary School - Music Concert

Tuesday, March 26, 2019 by Karen Hickman | Uncategorized

Had an exciting afternoon helping out at an end of project music concert with Ceri Jones of Owl Music.  The children played their violins and cellos and the music club played their bucket drums. A total of 19 instruments were displayed and I got to play along on clarinet, flute, trumpet and drum.
